Grounding is an electrical safety measure taken in order to enable electrical equipment to work normally and protect personal safety. Generally, grounding is achieved by linking a metal wire with a grounding device.
2. Functional characteristics of grounding equipment
The main function of grounding equipment is to provide grounding protection for power supply lines, electrical equipment, etc. of homes or buildings. It can introduce leakage current, electrostatic charge and lightning current generated on electrical equipment into the ground to avoid personal electric shock, fire, explosion and other accidents.
3. Types of grounding equipment
There are two main types of grounding equipment commonly used for grounding, namely protective grounding (the grounding of household electrical equipment or power supply lines).
3.1. Protective grounding equipment
Protective grounding is a necessary grounding measure in the family. The most common household grounding equipment is the grounding wire and grounding rod. The grounding wire is the metal wire, which is mainly used to transmit leakage current and static charge. Ground rods, also known as grounding electrodes or grounding grids, are mainly used to introduce the leakage current, static charge or lightning current from the grounding wire into the ground.
When houses and buildings need grounding protection, after connecting the power ground wires in the house together, insert them into the ground to a certain depth with a ground rod with good conductivity. The depth should be determined according to the amount of current in the house as a whole, and the grounding wire and the grounding rod should be connected together.
